@TechnoTranceTT : If you ask that they wait until you are under because of sensitiviity they will respect your wishes. I went into the hospital for a flow study and almost had to stop him from inserting the cath. I survived that and then a smaller cath was inserted with a lidocaine anesthetic lube (desensitizing) to inject sterile saline to measure the flow. When I went to the doc’s office the following week I was to get yet *another* cath in order to insert a scope to have a look-see.

Maybe it’s called a Spanner because it spans between the bladder and the sphincter, through the obstruction in the prostate, to allow the urine to flow freely. Also, on a play on words, it does “fix” the problem of prostatic obstruction, just like a wrench fixes things.
